Azenha do Tio Luís

Imagine…

…the peaceful sound of the river water, the wheels of the watermill in their lazy weep, the green peace from the surrounding landscape, a house where you can still feel their original residents history, the traditional Portuguese millers.
The water moves moving wooden castors that are connected to the interior stone grinders. You can see this mill area from the  transparent dinning-room floor.

Let’s enter to discover the house…

the original cobblestone path leads us to the house entrance. The rooms still have their original granite walls, and ancient working objects and furniture can be found all around mixed with modern and comfortable furniture. The main room, central point in the house, gathers the  living room with fireplace, the large common dinning table, and the kitchnet.

Peeking through the windows…

Outside, the river Coura jumps the dyke in a splashing water, and is channeled to the watermill wheels and makes them slowly move.

And the rooms…

For now there are only four. All double rooms. Two of them share a bathroom, great for families or friends, the other two have a private bathroom. Soon we’ll have more rooms.
